The koala is an aroboreal, herbivorous marsupial native to Australia. Koalas are most common to the southern and eastern parts of Australia, in the states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, as well as in the Australian Capital Territory.
Koalas are calm and friendly creatures, and spend much of their day nestled on branches or clinging to the trunks of eucalypt gum trees. Koalas are truly iconic and fascinating to observe and encounter.
This web site is under construction, but if you would like to see a koala up close, both Healesville Sanctuary and Ballarat Wildlife Park offer unforgettable koala encounters. Brisbane has a dedicated Koala Sanctuary worth visiting. There are also many koala walking tour operators to choose from.
